Rebuilt Green describes the transformation of a century-old warehouse in Portland into the Natural Capital Center, a marketplace for the ideas and products of the emerging conservation economy. Through the lens of a single building, the book describes the evolution of the green building and historic rehabilitation movements, as well as the latest options for minimizing or optimizing the use of energy, materials, and water. Rebuilt Green also offers insights on how to intentionally build collaboration and community through design and ongoing programs. Written by members of the building team, the book chronicles the joys and trials of historic redevelopment, green building, and the efforts of 25 diverse tenants to build a home and a movement that improves economic prosperity, ecological health, and social equity.
